Infant Massage Class Schedule

Schedule: Thursday morning, 10am ~ 11:30am

Target Students:
  • Pre-crawlilng babies and parents
  • Mother-to-be

Infant Massage Class Expectations

Our class is baby-centric and we put babies first. Please feel free to comfort your baby as needed. Do not force your baby to participate in the class. If your baby is sleeping or perfer to be playing by himself or herself on the side, you are encouraged to work with a doll to practice the strokes. If you need review sessions, they can be arranged after the class or before the next class.

Each class has a discussion session. You are encouraged to actively participate and share your thoughts with fellow parents.

Need to Know Class Information

  • Class is 90 minutes long, with 60 minutes on massage storkes and 30 minutes on theories of infant development
  • Massage oil will be provided for in-class use, the parents are welcome to bring their own
  • When massaging babies at home or bringing own massage oil, be sure to use eatable oil - meaning any oil that one can put with food - DO NOT use anything containing mineral oil
  • Parents need to bring the following items to class:
    * One or two towel for the baby
    * Diapers and wet naps
    * Toys or music that the baby is familiar and like

Infant Massage Lesson Overview

Throughout the 5-class course, the following content will be covered

  • Massage Strokes: Legs & feet, abdomet, chest, hand, face, back
  • Routines: colic relief routine, weather game
  • Infant Development Theories:
    * Benefits of infant massage
    * Bonding and attachment
    * Pressure and relaxation hormones
    * Reflexes
    * Massage to growing child
